MOUNT KAILASH & LAKE MANASAROVAR VIA SIMIKOT

This is a very special trekking experience that takes you into the remote landscape of Tibet to join with Tibetan pilgrims in walking a circuit, or kora, of the most sacred of all mountains - Kailash. The pilgrims travel vast distances to set eyes upon Mount Kailash and many even circle the mountain by prostrating themselves head to toe, all the way round - a truly impressive and humbling sight.
The trek follows an ancient trail via Simikot in Nepal, where time is allowed for crucial acclimatisation, before crossing the border into Tibet and then continues along the northern shore of Lake Manasarovar, the holiest lake in Asia, which lies close to the foot of Kailash. For those travelling to Kailash in the spring there is also the added bonus of attending the immensely colourful Saga Dawa Festival.
The remoteness and expense has meant that few westerners have ever visited Kailash but for those interested in the Himalaya and in Tibetan culture this really is the ulitmate goal.
